About the opportunity

The Family Violence Case Management Program is dedicated to providing specialised support and case management to women and their children who are experiencing family violence. Our mission is to empower individuals to address the impact of family violence, fostering recovery and overall wellbeing.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Family Violence Case Worker to join our team. In this role, you will utilise an 8-week intervention model to conduct comprehensive risk assessments, safety planning, and provide a range of support services, including outreach, psychoeducation, advocacy, and referrals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments using the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) system.
  • Perform ongoing assessments for children and families, guided by the "Best Interests" framework.
  • Collaborate with families to develop actionable family and safety plans.
  • Work closely with the team leader and senior case managers to provide immediate support to individuals and families affected by family violence.
  • Offer active holding, short-term case work, advocacy, and facilitate referrals to additional services.
  • Establish and maintain connections with key agencies, including DFFH Child Protection.
  • Implement a service delivery model focused on the needs of children and families to promote effective parenting and create a stable, safe environment.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification.

You will also have:

  • Experience as a practitioner in the family violence and child, youth, and family welfare field.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the current needs of families, young people and children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families to meet and achieve goals that facilitate safe and nurturing environments for children and young people including developing action plans.
  • Commitment to the family-centred approach and the family strengthening and empowerment models of practice especially in the context of family violence.
