Uniting Carer Services delivers a range of government funded carer support and client assistance programs across multiple metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria locations. These programs provide flexible respite support, early intervention, social support, and carer assistance. In early 2020 a consortium was established to deliver the Department of Social Services newly funded Carer Gateway service. As one of seven successful providers in the consortium, Uniting developed and implemented an operating model and a specialised workforce for the provision of Carer Gateway services which commenced in April 2020. 

Uniting has several new exciting leadership positions available in Carer Services with a vision of maximising the opportunities into the future for Uniting as a lead Carer Services agency and to develop a more effective and sustainable service delivery model that will benefit employees, consumers and partners.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager Carer Services, the Manager Carer Gateway is responsible for ensuring carers are provided with high quality, consumer-centric services and support through a network of Carer Gateway Service Providers. The position leads a team of Team Leaders and Assessment and Planning Officers across Victoria and is required to have an excellent understanding of the Carer Gateway support service and Carer Gateway Consortia. 

The position is a member of the Carer Services leadership team and will work collaboratively with the other members of this team to create consistent, effective structures and ways of working that enable the delivery of exceptional experiences, supports and services. The position will ensure compliance with all safety, quality, regulatory and contractual obligations and play a lead role in the Carer Gateway Consortia.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Bachelor level degree in a relevant professional discipline and demonstrated experience in a leadership role.

You will also have:

  • Strong understanding needs of carers, clients and families, and service gaps
  • Ability to manage programs/services, staff and budgets
  • Demonstrated proactive approach to problem solving, innovative thinking and decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to support change and improve agency and team culture
