about the role

Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) is currently seeking a motivated individual who has a passion for primary healthcare and community wellbeing. 

The Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) funds a range of health services and programs to improve access to care and better health for our communities. 

The Western NSW Primary Health Network (WNSW PHN) Manager Public Relations and Strategic Communications determines and guides the WNSW PHN communication, media strategies and activities. 

This includes the delivery of innovative and professional media releases, the management of relationships internally and externally with media and key stakeholders, website management, digital communications, branding, promotional campaigns, and corporate documents. 

This role works across the organisation to implement contemporary effective communications activities with our staff, Board, Advisory Councils, service providers and the general public. 

The position will lead internal communications to drive to effective, timely, and inclusive internal communications for the organisation.

The communications lead will manage and support the communications team to deliver quality outputs aligning with WNSW PHN strategic goals and ensure WNSW PHN maintains consistency in branding and key messaging. 

The position can be based in any one of our offices including, Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst or  Broken Hill.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Relevant experience managing digital communications platforms.
  • Previous experience in coordinating and managing corporate events.
  • Experience managing public relations and media; and leading strategic communication activities.
  • Experience with community engagement programs or community messaging campaigns.
  • Excellent interpersonal, consultation, negotiation, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • High level attention to detail and time management skills including the ability to prioritise, plan, organise and manage competing demands.
  • Capacity to travel within western NSW; hold a current driver’s licence. 

Desirable

  • Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders and maintaining customer relationship activities and community engagement.
  • Experience writing for the health sector.
  • Experience with technologies such as a website Content Management System, Adobe creative suite and Google/Facebook web traffic analytics.
  • Experience working in the health, NGO or community services sectors. 
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal people, organisations and communities in view of planning and implementing services and achieving outcomes for Aboriginal people.
  • Experience in managing a team and providing advice, direction and performance indicators.
  • Initiative, flexibility, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement.
