The Role

The primary objective is to provide early intervention support through evidence based and other appropriate group programs to vulnerable children, young people (birth to 18 years) and their families.

The Group Worker will build capacity in children, young people and families in regards to developmental, social and emotional skills for healthy relationships, resilience, emotional well-being, positivity, problem solving, coping and/or relaxation skills.

The Group Worker will work with key stakeholders including local schools to identify additional needs and how they could be addressed by Woodville Alliance programs. The Group Worker will also work with colleagues from the Community Initiatives Team, including caseworkers to identify emerging issues and the appropriate responses or pathways for referrals.

Essential Requirements

  1. Qualification in the areas of Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Health or equivalent
  2. Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and/or young people and parents in group settings, particularly in schools.
  3. Experience in the delivery of groups to culturally and linguistically diverse communities and an understanding of the diverse needs of clients.
  4. Understanding of safe work practices and management of risk.
  5. Demonstrated experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  6. Satisfactory written and verbal communication and computer literacy.
  7. Promotional and networking skills, experience with child and youth service providers and other community networks, particularly those working with CALD communities.
  8. A commitment to social justice principles.
  9. A valid Australian Driver’s Licence and own car for work purpose.
