The Role

We are seeking expressions of interest for a high capacity Program Manager with previous non-profit experience to join our team.

Working in strong collaboration with the CEO and our partners, this a vital role at World Relief Australia and specifically manages the day-to-day oversight of our international development projects worldwide. This involves oversight of volunteer partner groups who implement development activities in-country.

The role requires strong technical development practice knowledge, in association with expertise knowledge of rules and regulations surrounding nonprofits. This includes expertise in Deductible Gift Recipients (DGR), Public Benevolent Institutions (PBI), Trusts, Tax and Australian Charities and Not-for-profits commission (ACNC) compliance knowledge. Also knowledge of marketing and fundraising rules and regulations for non-profits.

This role would suit a Programs Manager, who is confident, has professional warmth, and who is teachable with a posture of positivity. A strong non-profit generalist who also has an additional skill in marketing, communication or business system operations to help share our work would be highly desirable.

Core details

This role is a permanent part-time position of 16 hours per week—ideally to be worked across 3 days.

This role would suit a highly experienced candidate looking for flexibility around other commitments as the specifics of days/hours worked can be negotiated. This role can be undertaken anywhere in Australia from home, and would suit someone who is comfortable working virtually and has a keen sense of responsibility. Our core team are Newcastle, NSW and Ipswich, QLD based. A candidate who is located near one of these locations would be preferred. 

As this is a pivotal role within our small team, we are specifically looking for a candidate with the right competency, team chemistry, character and capacity. We are seeking a candidate who upholds the Christian faith and values, which are foundational to our work. This position will be advertised until the right candidate is found. 

To be successful in this role you will have:

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in international development, international business, communications or related field

Desired qualifications:

  • Masters degree in international development, international business, communications or related field

Required experience:

  • Specific International Development, Programs or Project experience
  • Strong programmatic knowledge across a arranges of cross-cutting development issues
  • ACNC knowledge and expertise
  • Legal knowledge and understanding of DRG requirements, PBI, Trusts, Tax and compliance knowledge in relation to program development, marketing and fundraising activities

Highly desirable:

  • An additional skill and background in communication writing, marketing, IT or business operations is highly desirable

  • Aptitude in problem solving and decision-making
