Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.

Wunan is seeking a full-time Pathway to Home Ownership Support Worker to join the Financial Hub team in Kununurra. The role will support the Pathways to Home Ownership Program by offering effective planning, communication and administration of the program and its activities, including working with community and stakeholders to maximise benefit to East Kimberley participants. Your work will actively contribute to supporting people in the East Kimberley achieve their goal of owning their own home.

Whist located in Kununurra, the role will also provide services to surrounding communities including through remote service delivery.

Key Duties

  • Support with planning and administration of the program and its activities;
  • Support with the administrative and marketing tasks of the Program;
  • Develop communications for the Program: including social media, newsletters, radio station promotion, emails and other necessary communication;
  • Support the Coordinator to proactively build relationships with Program clients and prospective clients;
  • Engage positively with external stakeholders involved in the Program, for example Real Estate Agents, Mortgage Brokers, Banks, Key Assets, IBA, Aboriginal Organisations;
  • Communicate with team members to ensure maximum efficiency when delegating tasks;
  • Support with scheduling and organising meetings and events (such as workshops) and maintain the agenda, minutes and action plan;
  • Create presentations, summaries and helping materials to ensure better communication and understanding of the Program to the target market

Requirements of the role

Essential criteria:

  • Experience and understanding of Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate well via phone and through video- conferencing technology (for example, Zoom / Teams)
  • Ability to supervise staff and take on tasks as delegated by your Coordinator/Manager
  • Ability to successfully engage with both prospective clients and Program stakeholders, for example Real Estate Agents, Banks, IBA.
  • Ability to work in a team and also autonomously when required.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the core mission of Wunan

Desirable selection criteria:

  • Previous working experience in Indigenous Communities
  • Previous work experience in the financial or communities services industries
  • Experience working in community service organisation/s.

Pre-employment requirements

  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)
  • Current Australian unrestricted ‘C’ class Driver’s license.
