The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is a Registered Aboriginal Party and we hold responsibilities for the protection and management of Aboriginal cultural heritage objects and places in Victoria. Additional services we provide include: environmental land management, cross-cultural education, traditional welcome to country and smoking ceremonies, and cultural consultations.

The Role

The Manager of Research and Consultancy Services will lead a team of experts – Elders, anthropologists, and historians - and project managers that work with clients and across the organisation to:

  • Capture and protect the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung cultural knowledge for current and future generations; and
  • Deliver cultural value studies and assessments; design briefings and consultation services

The Research & Design Unit is responsible for creating a robust and accessible Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung cultural knowledge base. Facilitating the use of this knowledge base to inform cultural value studies and consultations as well as to support other functions of the Wurundjeri Corporation.

The Manager of Research & Design will work closely and collaboratively with the CEO to enable cross-organisational input and oversight, ensuring the Team’s function is fit to deliver now and into the future.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or the equivalent level of professional experience (e.g. Bachelor of Anthropology or similar).
  • A minimum of five years experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong people management and organisational skills.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to a ‘lay person’.
  • The ability to identify critical issues and assess their relevance to the Wurundjeri Corporation.
  • Budget management and financial reporting skills.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and to delegate effectively.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal cultures and matters including cultural safety and social issues.
  • The ability to foster strong, trusting working relationships with Wurundjeri elders and members.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will be highly regarded.
