A bit about the role

The foundation of the Enhanced Maternal Child Health (EMCH) Program is a child centred and family partnership focus, to promote the best health and development outcomes for children 0-3 years, within families experiencing vulnerabilities.

As an Enhanced MCH nurse, you will be responsible for not only supporting families to be confident and capable in their decision-making related to their children but to also develop the skills of families to place their children front of mind. We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and positive MCH nurse who can work autonomously and provide support for families and colleagues within the Enhanced MCH Program.
Working with a diverse population from a range of backgrounds is one of the reasons our nurses are so passionate about the work that they do with families, where they can really see the difference that they are making for children and their families.

You will be part of a large multidisciplinary team of MCH nurses, immunisation nurses, child and family resource officers, lactation consultants, a social worker and a family violence officer, well supported by a large leadership team.

Applying your clinical skills and experience in a community focused environment, with support from your Team Leader to escalate issues and access opportunities for professional development and further training.

Being a part of one of the largest Councils in Victoria, the team is well resourced with internal referral options for further support for families, appropriate equipment, and quality facilities.

  • Willingness to liaise with family support and health agencies including DFFH Child Protection as part of providing care for families within the Enhanced MCH program

  • Ability to prioritise care needs of individual clients and manage a case load
  • Excellent time management and adaptability skillset to provide safe and efficient care within the EMCH Program
