ABOUT the ORGANISATION

Wyndham Park Community Shed, a part of the Wyndham Park Community Centre, is a place for people of any age, race, ability or skill level. We are a shed that provides opportunities for our members to develop their skills and make strong social connections with others from their community.

Members can can pursue a variety of recreational and personal development activities and in doing so, feel connected to the local community and build supportive friendships. We offer various programs and classes such as woodworking, metalwork, ceramics, gardening, electronics & 3D printing, and mosaics. We run a Men’s Shed program (Tuesday & Thursday), a Women’s Shed program called “Kookaburra Girls” (Monday) along with other access programs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Shed Inclusion Programs Coordinator and Woodworking Trainer. Reporting to the Shed Manager, this role will play a pivotal part in coordinating and facilitating woodworking workshops while ensuring the inclusion and empowerment of diverse community members across a range of inclusion programs in the Wyndham Park Community Shed.

We're looking for someone with a unique mix of abilities, as the role will co-ordinate various access programs (Women's Shed, and Shed for All Abilities for people with a disability) while also training participants in woodwork skills during those programs. The role will support program participants from the local community, and will supervise and supporting others such as carers, trainers or volunteers who attending during these programs. This is an ongoing, part time position.

ABOUT YOU

You have a high level of woodworking experience or skill, whether attained professionally or as a hobbyist - and you are passionate about diversity and inclusion, ideally you have prior experience working with people with a disability. Organisational skills are also important, as the key coordinator for these programs.

You are a self-motivated person who loves to work collaboratively and to solve problems. You have strong communication skills, and the ability to build rapport with people quickly.
