About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Education and Engagement Officer to join our Resource Recovery team. The Education and Engagement Officer will assist in the planning, design and delivery of activities to promote waste minimisation and recycling in the Yarra Ranges community.

Reporting to the Strategic Education Officer, this role supports the community to reduce waste, maximise recovery of recyclable materials and reduce materials going to landfill. The role will work with a range of stakeholders, including residents, community groups, council departments, businesses, educational institutions and contractors.

This is a fantastic opportunity suited to someone looking to make a difference to the local community and environment.

What you’ll bring to our team

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to help explain, influence and educate in a succinct and relatable way
  • Knowledge of behaviour change principles and the waste and recycling industry.
  • Tertiary qualifications in education, sustainability, environmental science, community development or related discipline with some relevant experience; or
  • Less formal qualifications with extensive relevant experience in community education, waste, sustainability or related fields.

  • Salary from $76,054 (Band 5) per annum, plus superannuation.
