Job Summary

The Aboriginal PSP Team Leader is entrusted with providing exemplary leadership and support to Casework practitioners, particularly focusing on fostering culturally sensitive and respectful casework with Aboriginal children, young people, families, and our community partners. Leading a team of caseworkers, the Team Leader ensures the delivery of high-quality services and positive outcomes for clients within Aboriginal communities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, especially in cross-cultural contexts
  • Deep knowledge of social care practices and procedures, particularly within Aboriginal communities
  • Ability to provide professional guidance and support to team members, integrating cultural perspectives
  • Experience in developing and implementing effective casework strategies with an Aboriginal focus
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with community partners, particularly Aboriginal organisations

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, support, and mentorship to a team of Caseworkers and practitioners, emphasizing cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Develop individualized professional development plans for team members, incorporating Aboriginal cultural competence training
  • Monitor caseloads and ensure culturally appropriate and timely service delivery within Aboriginal communities
  • Collaborate closely with Aboriginal community partners to enhance client outcomes and promote cultural safety
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss cases, share best practices, and address challenges, with a focus on cultural considerations
  • Ensure strict compliance with organisational policies and procedures, while also integrating culturally appropriate practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in social care or related field, with a focus on working within Aboriginal communities
  • Previous experience as a team leader or supervisor preferred, with demonstrated cultural competency and leadership in Aboriginal contexts
