The Yes23 Campaign is looking for someone who wants to make a difference. We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic Victorian Campaign Coordinator to lead the Yes23 campaign efforts in Victoria.

This is full-time, six month fixed term position.

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Coordinate community events across Victoria in support of the Yes23 campaign
  • Deliver on a national campaign plan, particularly large-scale events at key moments in the campaign
  • Work with community organisations to coordinate them into actions through their memberships, ensuring continuity of messaging and training
  • Track activities online, particularly with regard to pre-poll and referendum day rostering
  • Work within a budget and tight timelines, and meet all reporting requirements as directed

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

There are no formal education requirements, but our ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for social justice and a commitment to progressive values
  • Demonstrated understanding of racial inequality and its impacts in our First Nations communities
  • A current valid driver’s licence
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrated experience in leading political or community organising
  • An eagerness and demonstrated ability to work with key community allies including the business sector
  • A willingness to work irregular hours and on the weekend
  • A willingness to travel regionally and interstate if required
  • The ability to strategically manage large supporter lists
  • The ability to set priorities when faced with competing demands and the flexibility to take on unexpected challenges and changing circumstances when they arise
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and an ability to quickly build rapport with a variety of people
  • A demonstrated capacity to work well with others in a team environment
  • A capacity to exercise judgment, discretion and initiative within a politically sensitive environment

In this short and fast-paced community campaign, we often work irregular hours, which may include night-time phone banks and weekend street stalls. As such, some flexibility in availability will be required.

This position will be based at Trades Hall in Carlton, Victoria but will involve substantial travel both in Victoria and interstate as needed; and will be reporting to the Yes23 National Organising Director.
