YFS has an opportunity for a woman or non-binary identifying person to join our well-established Responsible Men facilitation team.
YFS offers behaviour intervention programs and initiatives working holistically with men using abusive and controlling behaviours to facilitate a process of reflection on the attitudes and beliefs that drive these harmful behaviours. Funded by the Department of Justice and Attorney General, our group programs are grounded in the Duluth Framework, prioritising risk and safety for adults and children experiencing violence.
YFS' Responsible Men team is looking for a Behaviour Change Facilitator to join them to deliver group programs for men who are wanting to take responsibility to live a non-violent life. The core Responsible Men group is a 22-week open-ended program for men who have used abusive and controlling behaviours towards their intimate partner. Our Responsible Fathers group is a 16-week follow-up behaviour change program for men who have completed a previous behaviour change program and are focused on making changes as parents. Men engaging in our programs can also access our in-house Men's Counsellor for therapeutic support as part of an innovate pilot trial.
If you've got what it takes to guide men through a non-judgemental journey of accountability and critical self-reflection, this could be the role for you. You will work alongside an experienced facilitation team and receive ongoing professional development as part of our innovative, best-practice program recently evaluated by Griffith University.
This is a full-time position dependent on your facilitation level and experience.
While we are looking for a Senior Facilitator in accordance with QLD's Perpetrator Intervention Services Requirements, we will invest in training and provide experience and mentoring for the right emerging candidate to become a Behaviour Change Facilitator (see separate position descriptions attached). We encourage those who have diverse and culturally specific knowledge and experience to apply, even if you don't feel you meet the requirements for the role.
To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position to be a woman or non-binary person, as you will be paired with a male/masculine aligned co-facilitator in a co-gender facilitation model.
It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under the section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants identify as a woman or non-binary.
Aside from meeting the key capabilities outlined in the related role description available from https://www.yfs.org.au/work-for-us/, you’ll be a great fit if:
