YFS is looking for a part time Mental Health Support and Advocacy Worker for our Home and Healthy program.

Home and Healthy is a Psychosocial Support Program delivered in partnership between YFS, Micah and IUIH. YFS covers the Logan and Beaudesert areas. The program supports participants who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and experiencing severe mental illness with reduced psychosocial functioning.

You’ll be part of a small team providing person-centred, recovery focused, practical, flexible support. You will support participants to identify and develop recovery goals, to connect with other clinical and non-clinical services and to build their capacity for improving and maintaining their health and wellbeing. You’ll also assist participants and collaborate with housing providers to resolve tenancy issues and/or address homelessness.

About the job

  • Role location: Slacks Creek, with travel across Logan and Beaudesert
  • Role type: Part-time Permanent 53 hours/fortnight
  • Pay range: $85,393 - $97,689 (pro rata) a year based on experience, with salary packaging exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax available

You will need:

  • Experience working with people experiencing mental illness with complex needs using recovery-orientated practice
  • Demonstrated engagement and interpersonal skills, particularly with those in crisis and who are at risk of homelessness
  • Knowledge of disadvantage, poverty, health inequities, mental illness, homelessness, and complexity in our community
  • Willingness to engage in a “whatever it takes approach” with individuals with significant needs (within service and ethical guidelines).
