We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and responsive solicitor who wants to make a difference in people’s lives.

YFS operates Logan’s only community legal centre. Since 1992 YFS Legal has been there for people of all ages who would otherwise have limited access to legal advice and support.

This is an exciting and diverse role where no two days will be the same. As part of the YFS Legal team you will provide legal advice and support on a broad range of issues. You will also provide domestic violence duty lawyer representation and deliver community legal education.

About the job

  • Role location: Slacks Creek, Jimboomba, Beenleigh, Beaudesert and Cleveland Courts
  • Role type: Maximum term full-time or part-time opportunities available to 29 December 2023
  • Pay range: $89,042 to $93,073 a year based on experience, with salary sacrificing available

In this job, you will:

  • help people experiencing legal difficulties with legal advice, and legal tasks associated with domestic violence, family law, civil law
  • provide domestic violence duty lawyer representation
  • deliver community legal education to assist people to understand the law and their rights
  • link people experiencing legal issues to other services such as financial counselling, mental health, domestic and family violence, housing and employment
  • be required to have DV duty lawyer accreditation or the ability to obtain.

About you

Aside from meeting the key capabilities outlined in the related role description available from www.yfs.org.au/about/jobs-yfs, ideally you will bring the following:

  • inclusiveness and cultural awareness.

We require a solicitor with a Practising Certificate from either the Queensland Law Society or the Bar Association of Queensland.

Accreditation as a Domestic Violence duty lawyer is highly desirable, as is experience with domestic violence and family law.
