Young Leaders of Tasmania (YLOT) is a not-for-profit community organisation that aims to empower young people of all abilities to reach their potential.

YLOT's peer mentor buddy programs provide friendship and support for young people living with disability; and personal growth and leadership for young people of all abilities.

YLOT is committed to making communities inclusive and creating awareness of disability through our younger generation, with the aim to creating change and acceptance over the long term.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Disability Support Workers are an essential and valued team within YLOT who provide personal care and person-centred support to young people living with disability.

ABOUT YOU

You will have training and experience in disability support work. You will love working with children and young adults living with disability and enjoy working 1:1 with participants, as well as part of a team in our group programs.

You will have a passion for supporting people to be the best that they can be and achieve their goals. You value quality, meaningful, fun and engaging support and put the participant first. Exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality will be a key skill.

You will require the following prior to commencing this role:

• Working with Vulnerable People Registration – with NDIS endorsement
• NDIS Worker Modules: training.ndiscommission.gov.au
• National Police Check
• Tasmanian Driver’s License, registered vehicle with comprehensive insurance
• First Aid Certification, including Administer Medication module is desired.
