THE ROLE

Thebarton Aquatic Centre is owned by the Department for Education and managed by YMCA South Australia. At its core, Thebarton Aquatic Centre has a strong focus on educational outcomes, swimming lessons, delivery of community sporting club outcomes and recreational swimming. Thebarton Aquatic Centre has undergone an $8m renovation in 2024 and is set to open in mid-July 2024. 

YMCA Swim Teachers are an essential component in the delivery of the YMCA Swimming Lessons Program. Swim Teachers are required to maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of YMCA aquatic programs, educational trends and industry development. 

YMCA Swim Teachers are committed to the philosophies of the YMCA swimming lessons program and the delivery of safe, effective and professional lessons.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:

• National Police Check (issued in the last 6 months).
• DHS Working With Children Check.
• International Criminal History Record Check (if worked overseas in the last 5 years).
• RRHAN-EC Masterclass – Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education & Care. 
• HLTAID009 Perform CPR or equivalent.
• AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety or Swim Australia Teacher accreditation or equivalent.
