The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, coordinating, and reporting on the various aspects of YMDAC Social Services programs. This position ensures effective frontline support and contributes to the effectiveness and consistency of YMDAC's social programs and outcomes through actively fostering and maintaining progressive relationships with Strongbala Pipul Wanbala Bois Komiti, YMDAC management and Ngukurr community.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to assist the Director of Social Services with planning, organising, and coordinating the functions and services of YMDAC's Social Services Program.
  • Maintain a client focused framework, informed by and compliant with the relevant legislation, regulations, standards and policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to a culture of evidence-based practice, strong risk management and continuous improvement
  • Possession of an academic qualification in social work, behavioural sciences, or community development, working with children and families.
  • Minimum of five years postgraduate experience.
  • Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to negotiate with and advocate for children, youth and families and to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • An ability to communicate cross culturally, including the ability to structure written communication so that it is easy to follow and to adapt communication style to address the needs of diverse people.
  • Northern Territory Working with Children Clearance. (ochre card)
  • Demonstrated currency of pandemic and job specific vaccinations.
  • First aid certificate or willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
  • Recent police check or willing to obtain one.
