Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
Yorgum was established in 1991 by a group of Aboriginal women, some of whom worked in women’s refuges, who were concerned about the lack of appropriate counselling support for Aboriginal people experiencing spiritual, emotional and psychological pain. They founded a service with a ‘healing’ approach rather than an ongoing, crisis-driven ‘patch-up’ approach.
Yorgum offers all Aboriginal people and their families autonomous, community based healing services that are culturally secure, trauma-informed and work within an Aboriginal Family Worldview.
This position is responsible for providing targeted trauma-informed, culturally appropriate counselling services to support Indigenous Australians with disability, their families and carers that are affected by the Royal Commission.
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate the following experience and abilities:
Before an offer of employment can be made Yorgum requires a National Police Clearance (not older than 6 months), Working with Children Check Card and evidence of working rights in Australia, a current driver's license to be submitted.
Unsolicited referrals from recruitment agencies will not be accepted
Please note: Short listing will commence immediately. We reserve the right to close the position without notice. Only suitable candidates will be considered and contacted if short listed.
