Are you passionate about storytelling and keen to contribute to a purpose-driven project? Your Charity Story is a new, volunteer-powered not-for-profit platform showcasing the incredible work of Australian charities. Launching in early 2025 with a team of volunteers, YCS will feature weekly written interviews and articles on charity leaders, founders, and ambassadors who are making a difference across the country.
Why get involved?
- Build your portfolio: Gain real-world writing experience while honing your craft.
- Make meaningful connections: Engage directly with leaders, founders, and ambassadors in Australia’s not-for-profit sector.
- Be part of something purposeful: Join a volunteer team committed to highlighting stories of hope, resilience, and impact.
- Flexibility & recognition: Contribute 1 article per month (or more if you're eager) and be fully credited for your work. Whether you pitch your own story ideas or work from leads we provide, you’ll help amplify important voices and share them with a national audience.
We already have several articles in the pipeline (as well as an advertising plan) and are now seeking more contributors to help us grow.
What you’ll do
- Write one feature article per month (or more if you’re keen).
- Interview key figures from the Australian charity sector via your preferred method (email, Zoom, in-person).
- Collaborate with the editor on story ideas, or follow up on leads we provide.
What we’re looking for
- Upcoming writers who would like to build their portfolio with real meaningful work
- An interest in storytelling and a willingness to commit to at least 3-6 months in this volunteer role
- Familiarity with Australia’s charity landscape is a bonus
What we will provide
- Interview leads (if you want them - you can also approach interviewees yourself)
- Advertising dollars to promote the reach of your articles
- Editorial guidelines (but they're only a guide - we want to keep your own voice/writing style to keep the content interesting)
- Recognition of your work and a licence agreement (so you keep the copyright ownership and can even pitch the article elsewhere)
