Based at Deception Bay and working with the Family Support Services team, this role will take responsibility for increasing and enhancing community engagement, family and stakeholder connection with the Communities for Children (CfC) program strategies. The Communities for Children initiative is a federally funded, whole of community response aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of children aged 0-12 years in the Deception Bay community.

You will work in partnership with the local community to support neighbourhood, child and family networks, to facilitate participation and access to facilities and services (referral pathways).

Your role will include:

  • Improve the support and opportunities for partnerships with local community organisations, neighbourhood groups, residents and community groups
  • Create and maintain local networks within the community, agencies, community organisations and law enforcement sectors
  • Maintain a database on current issues and contacts related to community projects and sector stakeholders
  • Maintain Child and Family Alliance Network member lists and email distribution lists for advisory, working groups and networks
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate the Child and Family Alliance network meetings and professional development sessions
  • Engage the community through social media to achieve optimal community outcomes
  • Participate in and support local CfC funded activities and events

what we are looking for

You will be able to generate a sense of ownership and empowerment by the community to develop and participate in local initiatives to benefit the community. You will be able to connect with vulnerable people to amplify engagement and connection opportunities with services and programs. Lived experience of being a child in a vulnerable family is highly desirable.

You will bring:

  • Passion, commitment and belief in young people
  • Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse and disadvantaged communities
  • Knowledge and understanding of child and family programs and the diverse range of issues impacting on children, families and communities
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to plan and undertake engagement activities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships across all levels of stakeholder groups including child, family and carer cohorts, government, community, community Elders, agencies and organisations
