Based in an idyllic rural setting in North Richmond NSW, San Miguel family residential service provides intensive, individualised support to vulnerable young parents and their children. San Miguel is a unique service that plays a critical role in keeping children safe and well and keeping young families together. Parents and children receive support from a multi-disciplinary team through a combination of on-site and community based interventions that ensure children are engaged in safe, developmentally appropriate activities and their parents are supported to set and pursue family and personal goals.

For us it is about the children and families and not about the numbers.

The Parenting and Child Development Worker works in collaboration with the Case Worker Families to support young parents and their children to improve their emotional and physical wellbeing and improve parent’s skills in parenting and developing their children.

Your role will include:

  • Provide assessment and support to young parents and their children.
  • Develop and deliver activities that support children to be physically and emotionally safe and learn new skills.
  • Support parents to develop their parenting skills and build positive, secure attachments with their children.

With a flexible and mature approach to work, you can work independently as well as part of a team and understand how to build relationships with a wide range of people. You will be creative and collaborative by nature and will enjoy working through a different approach to each client and situation and will thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same!

You will bring:

  • Passion, commitment and belief in young people.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and families with complex needs.
  • A minimum of Diploma qualification in Human Services or related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection and assessing and managing risk.
  • Experience in developing and implementing innovative programs such as parenting and mothercraft skills, playgroups and other programs that foster children’s development.
