ABOUT THE ROle
Youth Insearch are industry leaders in providing youth peer-to-peer support. Our program focusses on empowering young people aged 12-20, through a unique combination of peer-led workshops and support groups in addition to one-to-one case management provided by a social worker.
Social Workers at Youth Insearch provide an integral role in our ability to support young people through a place-based case management model. Youth Insearch Social Workers are an integrated ‘youth hub’ for young people, working out of local schools and health services to support young people improving their health, wellbeing and connection to community.
In partnership with headspace, this role will be based at headspace Bundaberg and will integrate within their service, supporting young people to access Youth Insearch peer-facilitated programs, whilst supporting these young people within a strong case management lens.
Role responsibilities
- Engage with young people who are at greater risk to disadvantage who live across the Bundaberg region
- Work closely and collaboratively with referring agencies such as headspace and other local providers
- Support a minimum of 60 young people per year through a case management framework
- Work with the parents/carers/guardians of the young people being supported providing follow-up as required
- Promote the Youth Insearch peer-support programs, including Weekend Workshops, Weekly Support Groups, and Individual Support Groups, actively engaging and briefing young people including their parents/guardians/carers
- Act as the ‘Support Adult’ for your young people accessing the Weekend Workshops and Support Groups, attending all as a support person.
- Support and oversee local support groups within the community
- Support Youth Insearch to embed its programs within the Bundaberg region and act as a key stakeholder in raising our profile
- Maintain high-standards in the recording and keeping of client information within Youth Insearch’s Case Record Management system, salesforce.
- Working with the Regional Coordinator to ensure that KPIs for the region are being met by participating in weekly supervision
- Participation in clinical supervision and reflective practice aimed at supporting the effectiveness of practice occurring fortnightly.
- Develop and maintain professional networks within the community to ensure that those young people who need to know about Youth Insearch, know about us and how to access support.
Key Selection Criteria
In order to be considered for this role, you will have the following attributes as a minimum:
- Eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Experience working with vulnerable populations within a case management lens
- Sound knowledge of the challenges and issues experienced by young people aged 12-20 years
- Strong communication skills with the ability to develop networks and establish/increase community engagement
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- A valid Blue Card
- A valid Drivers’ License
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
Desirable but not essential requirements for the role are as follows:
- Direct experience working with vulnerable young people
- School social work experience
- Comfortable driving a 12-seater van/bus
- Unrestricted drivers licence and access to a motor vehicle with full comprehensive insurance
