About the position

The Senior Practitioner is a member of the Sunshine AOD leadership team. The position leads site implementation and compliance with the YSAS Model of Care and provides practice supervision and operational supervision to outreach workers. The Senior Practitioner will also undertake direct service activities, crisis intervention, assessment, case work / case management services and ongoing support to minimise the harm of drug use to young people holding a small case load of clients. The role requires working independently across a range of areas with support from the Community Manager and other senior leaders.

Some of the Key Selection Criteria for this role are:

1. Experience in and understanding of the treatment and care of young people in the areas of alcohol and other drug use, crime prevention, mental health and working with young people and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development and ability to practice a range of interventions including complex forensic assessments, case work / case management approaches, care planning and review, advocacy, group work, crisis intervention and collaborative outreach-based service delivery.
3. Demonstrated ability to manage, lead and grow the capability of a multi-disciplinary group of staff and demonstrated ability to build and lead workplace culture.
4. Expertise in providing operational and/or practice supervision to staff and knowledge of presenting cases for peer review.
5. A understanding of the complexities and function of youth outreach programs, approaches and frameworks.
6. Demonstrated networking and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other leaders, partners and external agencies [e.g. government, NFP, and other sector funders and leaders].
