Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Finance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting the organization’s budgeting, reporting, and financial planning processes. The Finance Officer will work closely with the finance team and other stakeholders to ensure financial accuracy, maintain operational integrity, and support the growth and sustainability of Yuku Baja Muliku Landowner & Reserves Ltd.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Budgeting:
- Develop, implement, and monitor organizational budgets in alignment with strategic goals.
- Provide timely and accurate financial forecasts and analysis to support decision-making.
- Manage and track funding from external providers and ensure proper allocation and reporting.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management and external stakeholders.
- Ensure that reports are accurate, clear, and compliant with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide insights into financial trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimisation.
Financial Software & Record-Keeping:
- Utilise Reckon Accounts hosted software to record, track, and manage financial transactions.
- Ensure that all financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
- Support the smooth functioning of financial audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor queries.
Expense Tracking & Optimisation:
- Monitor day-to-day expenses and assist with cost management strategies to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements, reporting findings to management.
Stakeholder Liaison & Coordination:
- Work closely with internal departments, project teams, and external stakeholders to ensure financial operations align with project goals and organisational objectives.
- Provide financial advice and support to team members and managers in the execution of project budgets and resource allocation.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain financial controls to mitigate risk and ensure the integrity of financial data.
General Financial Support:
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Handle ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by senior management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in Reckon Accounts hosted software or similar financial management tools.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) communities and organisations is highly desirable.
