The Individualised Community Living Strategy (ICLS) team are looking for an Aboriginal Recovery Mentor, preferably female (as requested by our customer), with experience in Mental Health to support a customer based in the Nollamara and surrounding areas. Our ICLS program is focused on identifying and building on the strengths of our customers to enhance their recovery and meet their individual needs.

Due to the complexity of the work we require the applicant to have appropriate skills and knowledge of a sophisticated recovery practice.

Selection Criteria:

  • Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Previous experience (preferred with training provided) in the Mental Health sector and supporting people in recovery
  • Display strong communication skills with an ability to take initiative
  • Ability to build good relationships and maintain professional boundaries
  • Work effectively around chaos and find simple, creative solutions
  • Ability to facilitate people to develop and sustain their own social connections and relationships
  • Commitment to helping people to develop skills to self-manage their lifestyle and well being
  • Good understanding of strength based practice and how to apply it
  • Flexible to provide supports during the week and on weekends (approximately 10 hours per week)
  • Daily access to a reliable vehicle and possess a valid driver’s licence (essential).

In return, successful candidates will receive a hourly rate of $25.50 plus super including the option of salary packaging! Other benefits include the payment of travel time, a travel allowance of 76 cents per kilometre between supports and great training opportunities.
