  • Salary: $100,000 per annum plus superannuation
  • Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week (candidates who prefer 30 hours / 4 days a week will be considered)
  • Contract period: One year, employment will be ongoing funding permitting

Help make the small and dynamic organisation at the heart of the climate movement as effective as we can be. By managing our organisational development, ensuring our financial planning, management and reporting, human resources, governance, legal compliance and administration is functioning well you can help us deliver great benefits to our members and play a key role in fighting climate change.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:

Managing operational side of a growing organisation, including:

  • Financial planning and management, including oversight of fundraising plans
  • Legal compliance and reporting relevant for charities
  • Human resource management, administration and staff management
  • IT and database management
  • Governance, organisational policy and Board support
  • Management of CANA’s service agreement program

Selection Criteria

  • At least five years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience in organisational development, policies and planning.
  • Excellent management, operational, financial and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in human resources and in supervising and supporting staff.
  • Understanding of legal and reporting requirements for charities.
  • Outcomes oriented, able to deliver on tasks yourself, and manage other people to deliver, in a complex work environment with competing demands.
  • Strong team player with effective interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Commitment to the climate movement.

Desirable Selection Criteria

  • Experience with community-based organisations or in the Not for Profit sector.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and supporter care programs.
  • Experience in database and IT systems management.
  • Experience with supporting and managing a Board.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Management or similar will be highly regarded.

Position Details

  • Reports to: Executive Director
  • Direct reports: Finance and Governance Officer and member services staff
  • Status: Full-time (37.5 hour week)
  • Location: Sydney office, other locations will be considered for exceptional candidates
  • Contract period: 1-year contract, with a plan to extend, dependent on funding
  • Other: CANA has a BYO devices (laptop, phone) policy. A monthly amount is reimbursed for expenses.

We operate behind the scenes to drive strategic thinking and campaign collaboration between members including Australia Youth Climate Coalition, Greenpeace, The Wilderness Society, the Australian Conservation Foundation, WWF, Oxfam, 350.org, Solar Citizens, health and faith networks, trade unions and think tanks and many more. We are a small team located in Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.
