Jesuit Social Services has a history of investing in programs to support people to transition into education, training and jobs. Both experience and research tells us that one of the most reliable pathways out of disadvantage and most effective ways of connecting with the broader community is through employment.

Employment Services is Jesuit Social Service’s major activity to help disadvantaged Victorian jobseekers gain employment. These services are delivered by specialist employment experts who work closely with employers to identify job opportunities and prepare job seekers for those roles.

About the role

As a JVES Intake Officer you will be responsible for assisting with the intake of referrals to our JVES programs. You will seek to answer any queries regarding our employment programs as well as assessing eligibility and suitability of potential referrals and where eligibility and suitability criteria are met refer the candidate to the appropriate program representative. Where appropriate you will also assist employment brokers with prescreening candidates for available roles and or tailoring resumes to suit available vacancies.

This is a contract role until the 31st of July 2022.

Candidate Requirements

This role will suit a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience (or capacity) of engaging with participants and a broad understanding of non-vocational barriers, to improve their job-readiness into employment
  • Proven success in achieving employment outcomes for disadvantaged jobseekers
  • Ability to communicate, liaise and network with employers and community support services in a professional manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated experience in personal organisation and time management
  • Be results driven, passionate about performance
  • Capacity to fulfil reporting and administrative requirements associated with the position
  • Understanding and sympathy with the mission and ethos of Jesuit Social Services
  • Current driver’s licence and own vehicle (preferred)
  • Valid Working with Children Check card.
  • Successfully completed Police Check. Police Check will be conducted prior commencement by Jesuit Social Services
