About Us

LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) is the national peak health organisation in Australia for organisations and individuals that provide health-related programs, services and research focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people and other sexuality, gender and bodily diverse people and communities.

LHA works with legislators, policymakers and service providers to assist them understand and address the needs of LGBTIQ+ people and communities. LHA supports its members to have a stronger policy voice and partners with researchers across the country on issues of LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing.

About The Role

The Corporate Services team has responsibility of the operational functions of LHA. This includes and is not limited to human resource management, people and culture, governance and legal compliance, financial management, undertaking all administrative tasks, management of LHA’s members and the membership program and ensuring that all LHA’s IT requirements are tended to.

In addition, the Corporate Services team provides secretariat support to the Board of Governance and Executive Assistance to the Chief Executive Officer.

The Corporate Services Executive Director ensures strategic and high-quality operations of LHA, that are managed and delivered proactively, efficiently, effectively and with rigour.

The role holds responsibility for the organisation’s human resources, financial, governance and operational management with the assistance of some external consultants.

The role is responsible for the strategic vision of Corporate Services, applying a risk management lens to all functions.

The role ensures LHA employs the best people to work in the best cultural environment, and supports LHA staff to maximise efficiencies and organisational standards.

The role manages a small team, along with external accounting, HR, and IT services.

The Corporate Services Executive Director is a member of LHA’s Executive Leadership Team.

All staff are required to ensure that within their role and delivery of their work, they consider and incorporate the needs of the LGBTIQ+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, BrotherBoys and SisterGirls.

To be considered for this role, you will have the following experience and qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Business Administration, Human Resources or relevant field.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience as Corporate Services Manager, HR Manager, Administration Manager, or Financial Manager, ideally within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience in planning and implementing strategies to bring about organisational change.
  • A proven track record of planning and using diverse influencing strategies to achieve organisational goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and improve the capability of staff and teams.
  • Experience in creating an effective, productive, and safe workplace culture.
  • Demonstrated high-level management skills and proactive communication.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and the implementation of improved business systems.
  • Experience or understanding of legislative, regulatory and compliance requirements for a company limited by guarantee with charitable status.
  • Experience in providing support to boards/committees.
  • Prior experience with using CRM and accounting systems and highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience of working effectively and collaboratively in a team environment, with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in environments where a high degree of judgement, imitative confidentiality and sensitivity is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the health and human rights of LGBTI people and communities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the workings of government (Commonwealth and State/Territory), and of the health sector.

Computer Skills:

  • Highly proficient and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
