Respite Carer - Specialised Foster Care Program

OzChild

More than just foster care

We’re searching for people with a passion for improving the lives of children and young people.

OzChild is a non-government organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable children, young people and families for nearly 170 years. The largest provider of evidence-based programs in Australia, we support over 10,000 children, young people and family members each year.

We are currently seeking individuals or couples to become respite carers in our internationally proven program Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO). This short-term program works with children over a period of around 9 months by providing positive reinforcement and wrap around support. Respite carers provide relief for current full-time carers for one weekend a month and receive $205 per night.

To date we have had some fantastic outcomes for children, including 8 graduations from our VIC team, and 80% of children and young people nationally having successfully completed the program.

Overview:

  • Give one weekend a month and be part of a transformative short-term foster care program
  • Care for a child in your home aged 7-11
  • Generous tax-free reimbursement of $205 per night provided
  • Provide positive reinforcement for the child in a home environment
  • Receive comprehensive training and guidance for this highly structured treatment program
