Senior Accountant

The role:

OzChild has been supporting vulnerable children, young people and families for nearly 170 years, we aim to deliver services that work and recognise our success is enabled through the effort of both our front-line services and support staff and continuously seek to improve what we do.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Finance & Planning, the Senior Accountant is based in our South Melbourne National Support Office (working from home during the COVID-19 restrictions). You are a key member of the Finance & Planning team responsible high-quality financial analysis and accurate and timely visibility of financial performance.

You will lead the production of annual accounts, audit coordination and acquittals. As the Senior Accountant you will also represent the Senior Manager Finance and Planning in their absence.

What you will do:

  • Prepare high quality, accurate and timely financial information
  • Form, analyse and distribute monthly management accounts
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Annual budget and forecasting process
  • Assist in developing an expense automation system (project)

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is essential
  • CPA or CA highly desirable
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex funding models and services
  • Experience using driver-based budgeting methods
  • Experience using budgeting and forecasting software- Magiq
  • Experience using accounting system Great Plains
  • Have a specific interest and prior experience working in the not for profit sector
