The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity helping disadvantaged Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves.

We are currently seeking a Human Resources and WHS Administrator for a full-time 12-month contract. Reporting to the National Manager, Human Resources, and working with a dedicated, energised and passionate team in a fast-paced environment, you’ll provide support to your HR team members and the wonderful Smith Family team nationally.

About our role

  • Support all recruitment-related administration (including managing recruitment inbox, posting job ads, keeping records up to date, report generation, and email follow-ups)
  • Write contracts, send new starter paperwork, and follow up onboarding documentation, including Police Checks, Working with Children Checks, and Visa validation
  • Send new starters their welcome email and login details and ensure systems are updated
  • Monitor Working with Children Check and Police Check expiries and follow up with team members to ensure their checks are renewed
  • Assisting team members/managers with timesheets including leave queries, offboarding, and general queries
  • Support the administration of Work Health and Safety matters and related activities
  • Assist in the review of workplace audits, hazards, near misses, injuries, and incident monthly reports

About you

It takes a special kind of person to be our Human Resources and WHS Administrator. Our successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Experience within an HR team and knowledge of current HR practices
  • High level of interpersonal communication skills
  • Positive, engaging and supportive approach to helping the team
  • Demonstrated experience in administration
  • Willingness to cover a wide range of tasks in cooperation with others
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective work systems
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of an HRIS is desirable
  • Completion of Tertiary qualification in HR-related study is desirable, not essential
