Role Overview

This position is offered on a permanent part-time basis working 3x set shifts across a 3 week rotating roster

  • 3:30pm - 11:30pm followed by an inactive sleep-over shift 
  • penalties will be paid for shifts work outside of core hours 

This Support Worker is responsible for the provision of safe and appropriate accommodation and support services to residents through the delivery of high-quality care to service users.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with intake and assessment where relevant to the role
  • Develop and monitor support plans/individual case plans, based on Services Practice Guidelines
  • Provide individual assistance for clients (young pregnant mothers and babies) in line with support plans and identified goals

Specialist Homelessness Services SHS Youth of Uniting provides 3-month crisis service accommodation, case management and support to 16 to 24 year old expectant mothers or mothers and their children who are at risk of, or are experiencing homelessness. Including providing support to young mothers to gain housing, parenting information, childhood development, specialist community support and access to parenting groups.  

About you in the role

  • Certificate IV (minimum) in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work or other relevant field
  • Hold a current NSW WWCC and First Aid Certificate
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues 
  • Experience working with vulnerable people, relevant to the service (young mothers and babies)
  • Knowledge of best-practice for Specialist Homelessness funded Services
  • Ability to think on feet and support young women work through complex issues
  • The role is designated for a female under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act. You will be required to have a current drivers license, Working With Children Clearance and a National Police Check
