About Us:

We are Victim Support Service, a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that provides free and confidential help to victims of domestic and family violence and survivors of institutional abuse. We work in partnership with other organisations in Adelaide and regional areas. With 40 years' experience, we know the impact crime and abuse has on people's lives and what it takes to help them get their lives back on track.

We are looking for someone special to join the Staying Home Staying Safe team as a Case Worker.

Could this be the opportunity you've been looking for?

The Role

Our experienced team work closely with women (and their children) who are at risk of, or experiencing, post-separation violence and abuse, to improve their physical and emotional safety. You will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, safety planning and in-home safety audits with clients. You will efficiently manage a case load of clients, where you will be responsible for arranging home security upgrades, liaising with letting agents and making necessary referrals. In addition, a key part of the role involves representing the program at Family Safety Framework meetings.

Work outside of normal business hours may be required from time to time, and a drivers' license is necessary. Work vehicles are supplied.

About You

You are a client-centred professional who has experience working with vulnerable groups, trauma or crisis work. You have strong administration skills including the ability to work at a fast pace, work autonomously and experience using case note databases. You have a calm, cooperative and positive manner.

Ideally, you will also have relevant qualifications (such as social work or counselling) as well as experience working in the Domestic and Family Violence sector, however, we welcome applicants with skills gained in related sectors such as homelessness or mental health.

Importantly, you are a strong communicator and want to enjoy the support of an equally committed team.

What we offer

We are committed to caring for our staff. This work can be as rewarding as it is challenging, so providing benefits and opportunities to develop and grow is important to us. We provide a flexible workplace, a 10% superannuation, and a competitive salary sacrifice scheme.

Appointment subject to DHS Working with Children clearance.
