About the role

We are seeking a Solicitor to work in our Parachute Project. Parachute is a specialist legal program providing legal services to vulnerable women experiencing or at risk of family violence in the areas of housing law, Centrelink and human rights. Parachute also delivers specialist training to the community sector to raise awareness of and strengthen referral pathways for women with lived experience of family violence.

CCL considers being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s.34 of the Discrimination Act 1995 (ACT).

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Providing legal services to vulnerable women experiencing or at risk of family violence in the areas of social security law, housing law and human rights,
  • Undertaking outreach, community legal education and activities;
  • Supervising and teaching clinical law students;
  • Attending stakeholder forums and liaising with community organisations; and
  • Working on law reform and community development projects.
