A bit about the role:

The Safety Coordinator (COVID Response) will work as part of the People, Culture & Quality Team to guide the organisations COVID response and prepare for future pandemics. The Safety Coordinator (COVID Response) will build on the existing practices, with a view to innovating how we engage and support our staff, volunteers, and service users.

This role is a part time role (0.4 - 0.5) based out of our HQ in Glenroy, with option to work at our office in the CBD and from home as needed.

This is a new role but in the first few months you will be involved in:

  • Leading the conversations for COVID safety planning and site-based responses

  • Working with managers and team leaders to implement return to work plans

  • Coordinating training and education sessions for staff

  • Reviewing and update the pandemic policy, action plans, guidelines etc

  • Providing feedback on our immunisation policy and roll out plan

  • Attending clinical governance committee

  • Supporting SLT & ELT to plan, deliver safe operations

  • Attending WHSE committee

  • Monitoring covid risk rating, surge capacity and safe operations during outbreaks

  • Implementing and monitoring role based covid risk assessments

  • Completing implementation audits and site-based drills

  • Balancing staff wellbeing and safety

We are an independent, registered charity providing front line support to young people and individuals experiencing disadvantage, unemployment, homelessness, alcohol and other drug issues. We also help those looking to re-engage with learning and employment. We recognise the complex and varying needs of the people we work with and go above and beyond, 365 days a year, to provide pathways out of poverty.

Last year our highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, helped 15,288 people through face-to-face contacts at The Living Room, 1,243 young people through our employment and training programs and dispensed over 1.3 million safe injecting kits through our needle exchange program.

Located at two flagship sites (Hosier Lane and the vibrant Northern region of Melbourne) we are growing and now deliver services at 15 outreach locations across Victoria.
