Novo Education Space is multi-campus independent Special Assistance School for Years 9 to 12, registered with the NSW Education Standards Authority. Novo Education Space is operated by WEA Illawarra, a not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and registered charity.
Many students at Novo Education Space have experienced trauma as a result of adverse childhood experiences. Our students often have significant gaps in learning and find it difficult to engage in large group settings, and sometimes present with social-emotional challenges in the school environment. Our students require additional planning, support and adjustments to access their learning.
We utilise the Berry Street model of trauma-sensitive positive education which encompasses a structured vision of wellbeing in the school community. Our relationship practice is grounded in high expectations balanced with support and unconditional positive regard for our students.
This is newly envisioned role leading our established Wollongong campus. The Head of Campus role is a permanent, full-time position located on the beautiful South Coast of NSW. The opportunity to lead the campus as a member of the school executive team will enable you to impact staff, students and the community through innovation, connection and empowerment.
Ideally, you have at least 3 years of educational leadership experience, and 7+ years of teaching experience. You have passion for working with students who are at risk of disengagement from education, and a desire to learn about our innovative curricular and pedagogical models. You will be able to lead a team of multidisciplinary staff in the development, implementation, and growth of the campus, and contribute to the overall development of our multi-campus school.
WEA Illawarra acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work and learn. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. We are committed to creating safe and welcoming learning centres for First Nations people to flourish and grow as future community leaders.
Novo Education Space enrols a high proportion of First Nations learners. We are continually learning and growing in our diversity and inclusion commitment and practice. We strongly encourage applications from First Nations people or people with culturally, linguistically, gender or other diverse backgrounds, abilities and experiences.
Please review our Applicant Pack for more information about the considerable benefits of joining our team, and information on how to submit your application. This can be found at www.novo.nsw.edu.au/employment
