About the Role:

The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator will support the development and implementation of a wide variety of best-practice equity, diversity & inclusion initiatives. This will include developing and running events and campaigns, activations and training programs including Arc’s Be A Better Human Program. This role will support Arc in increasing awareness of EDI to the benefit of all students.

Key tasks and accountabilities

  • Deliver initiatives, events, programs and developmental opportunities which support Arc’s strategic pillars and prioritise equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • This may include but is not limited to Respect Week, Diversity Week initiatives, Be A Better Human
  • Undertake the administration of EDI initiatives including Focus Groups and Mental Health First Aid training.
  • Undertake end-to-end project management including project design, development, implementation, documentation and evaluation.
  • Supervising a casual staff member working primarily with communications and events.
  • Support in Arc to identify areas of opportunity and improvement in areas including Clubs, Volunteering, Sport and Student Leaders.
  • Support Arc to appropriately respond to gendered violence incident reports.
  • Organise and facilitate an internal series of events for Arc employees based on the principles of the Be a Better Human campaign.
  • Produce and/or support the production of range of content including internal and external reports, policy submissions, event collateral, applications and recommendations.
  • Represent Arc in engagement with key stakeholders including UNSW divisions and faculties and student leaders.
  • Actively engage in fair and equitable workplace practices and behaviour to ensure discrimination free workplace in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrate behaviour in accordance with Arc @ UNSW values and Code of Conduct
  • Comply with Arc WHS policy and procedures to actively participate in the achievement of a safe working culture.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Passion for Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
  • Experience in all or either:
    • Social Media & Communications
    • Events Management & Programming
    • Administration & People or Volunteer Management
    • Social justice, activism or advocacy
  • Capacity to approach issues with objectivity and empathy enabling informed, considerate decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrating integrity, reliability, and a professional attitude
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Ethical Practice, along with the ability to apply these principles in the workplace

Desirable

  • Lived Experience in Equity, Diversity & Inclusion cohorts.
  • Proven experience and ability to work with students in a student-oriented environment
