We have a great opportunity for someone to join our amazing Employment Services team at ASC. The Employment Services Coordinator role provides support to people seeking asylum in achieving their employment goals, overseeing work readiness and providing pre and post placement support. You will also work alongside and provide guidance to our wonderful volunteers as they support clients in job searches and liaise with our partners.
This is a full-time position, based in Newtown on a fixed term contract of up to 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Case manage a number of clients, collaborating to develop Job Search Plans and achieve employment goals using a person-centred, strengths-based approach
- Supervise the volunteer-run Employment Hub once per week, ensuring great client experience and high quality service delivery
- Offer feedback to clients and volunteers to improve job search
- Help identify opportunities for clients, including suitable opportunities on the ASC Jobs Board, and plan next steps
- Market and successfully place candidates with a wide range of employers and recruitment agencies
- Support volunteers to facilitate job applications with partners
- Guide volunteers in their delivery of post-placement support for clients and employers
- Track applications and recruitment processes, ensuring strong relationship management with partners.
- Engage with and expand the network of Partner Employers
- Manage relationships with Partner Employers, recruiters, social enterprises and community organisations to create opportunities for the people we support
- Ensure Partner Employers adhere to employment standards.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
Essential
- Experience in recruitment, human resources, or community development
- Ability to motivate, support and inspire volunteers and people seeking asylum
- Ability to listen to, engage with, support, and learn from people with complex needs
- A strong understanding of the issues affecting people seeking asylum
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, written and oral skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisational and time management skills
- Ability to think innovatively and creatively to solve problems as part of a team
- An energetic, positive attitude and and a commitment to learning and improvement
- Experience communicating with and gaining support from external stakeholders
- Enthusiasm for and facilitation skills to run engaging group and individual trainings
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships
- Ability to adapt effectively to change
Desirable
- Knowledge of different professional industries, including the education sector
- Knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Experience working with people seeking asylum, refugees and/or migrant communities
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, human resources, psychology, social work, or humanitarian areas
- Lived experience as a refugee or person seeking asylum
