About the Role

This is a rewarding role working with Indigenous families in the Brisbane community. As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the Early Childhood Teacher is expected to personally contribute to the shaping and achievement of ATSICHS Brisbane vision and goals within their own scope. They will work with children and their families to maximise the potential of all children in meeting their developmental and unique needs in a holistic and integrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander early learning setting. 

Duties

  • Lead the development and implementation of high-quality education and care programs in line with the National Quality Framework (NQF), the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the values and historical experiences of ATSICHS Brisbane as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation.
  • Proactively plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate play-based programs and early learning experiences for individual children and groups of children, as part of a team learning environment with colleagues.
  • Build and maintain close relationships with parents/guardians of the children, through constant communication, to meet the needs of individual families.
  • Remove access barriers to children by delivering the transport service, picking-up and dropping-off children that otherwise would not have access to quality early years learning.

COVID - 19 Requirements
  • Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Requirement

  • ACECQA Approved Bachelor of Early Childhood/Teaching/Education (Early Childhood).
  • Minimum 12 months demonstrated experience in managing a small team within a Kindergarten year setting or similar role and/or in an acting role. 
  • Queensland Working with Children’s Card (Blue Card).
  • First Aid & CPR Certificate.
  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification.
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work in a performance driven environment and meet month-to-month program targets.
  • Occasionally requirement to travel across Brisbane and Logan and work at multiple locations.
  • Ability to lead, guide and manage people including the implementation of cultural change and change management opportunities.
  • Ability to support and manage a continuous quality improvement model to further improve the service model and practice application of team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet targets/performance outcomes.
  • Ability to utilise participative management practices and adopt a supportive, stimulating management style to achieve real and tangible quality outcomes for clients.
  • Experience and knowledge leading a team through the Assessment and Rating process with positive results.
  • Capable and competent using various software systems.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience and success in establishing and maintaining positive family, team and community relationships.

Preferred

  • Transport experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Kidsoft Knowledge.
  • Queensland Kingergarten Funding Scheme Requirements.
