Australian Women’s Health Alliance Board through the Board Chair
Background to the Australian Women’s Health Alliance can be found at australianwomenshealth.org/about-us
The Alliance is a network of volunteers supported by membership fees and donations. We are currently funded by the Australian Government under the Health Peak and Advisory Bodies program to undertake a project to support the National Preventative Health Strategy 2021-2030.
The Alliance has also secured additional philanthropic funds to advance women's health equity and gender equity in Australia.
This philanthropic funding will significantly enhance the Alliance's capacity to build a compelling business case for increased government support, develop a new strategic plan for 2025-2030, expand our membership base, and elevate women's health priorities in key government discussions. These additional resources will enable the Alliance to provide independent, feminist-informed policy advice and support systemic reforms in women's health with renewed vigour.
With this philanthropic funding, the Alliance is poised to transition through a renewal and expansion process.
We are now seeking a CEO to lead this critical work. The new resources will support pre-positioning for Australian Government funding, the development of a strategic plan, membership model renewal, and organisational capacity enhancement. Key objectives include securing ongoing government funding, increasing membership and media engagement, and diversifying income streams. This will empower us to continue advocating effectively for women's health and gender equity across Australia.
The CEO of the Australian Women's Health Alliance is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and delivery of an effective, responsive, innovative, and accountable peak body, aligned with the current strategic direction.
The CEO will promote the objectives of the Alliance within the wider community and facilitate the achievement of these objectives through innovative thinking, lobbying, networking, and partnerships.
This role requires a commitment to intersectional feminist philosophy and to undertaking a leadership role within the organisation and the community, fostering and promoting women’s health and well-being.
The role will predominantly operate in an online and remote capacity, leveraging digital tools for effective communication and collaboration.
The Board delegates to the CEO the responsibility for decisions involving day-to-day management of the Alliance. It will grant manage organisational grants from Institutional and non-institutional donors, philanthropy and individual donors. Within this role, the CEO will exercise a high degree of initiative and professional judgment.
