The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications, and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

Reporting to the Paralegal – Legal Services, the Legal Support Officer – Legal Services is to contribute to the day-to-day operations of the legal support team through the delivery of high quality, accurate and efficient administrative service.

Full-time, ongoing position available for administrative support to join the Legal team, based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth  

In this role you will:

  • Manage tasks from the Legal Support inbox, including assisting with set up of legal matters, preparation of briefs to external firms, participate in team-based tasks and general administrative duties.
  • Assist in the preparation of files and documents, including external correspondence, and internal communications in line with Ahpra policies.
  • Maintain confidential records and filing systems, including accurate data entry, updating information across several internal systems and making changes to the Public Register.
  • Liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders in a professional manner, including Lawyers, members of the Boards, tribunals, courts and external legal firms as required. 

As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following:

  • Certificate IV in Legal Services or equivalent and/or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a legal, government or regulatory environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team and show initiative and work independently when required
  • Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills in interpretation of information.
