Breast Cancer Trials are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer with experience in fundraising to lead their team from their headquarters in Newcastle, NSW.

Breast Cancer Trials (Australia and New Zealand) is a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to conducting and promoting clinical trials for the prevention, treatment, and cure of breast cancer. With a rich history of groundbreaking research and a commitment to improving patient outcomes, they are at the forefront of the fight against breast cancer.

Position Overview:

The Board are seeking a new CEO to lead Breast Cancer Trials into a significant period of growth and innovation. Reporting to the Chair, the CEO will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, operational management, and financial sustainability of Breast Cancer Trials. This role requires a passionate leader with a proven track record in executive leadership, preferably within the healthcare or research sectors and with an understanding of fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the organisation’s mission and objectives
• Build and oversee the leadership team and continue to embed strong organisational culture in line with their values: We Before Me, Curiosity, Empathy and Greatness.
• Support and lead a highly competent fundraising team in line with the new fundraising strategic plan.
• Oversee and review the operational and financial performance of the organisation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and the research community.
• Represent Breast Cancer Trials at national and international forums and establish collaborations and networks with individual organisations whose activities and research are priorities are relevant to BCT.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, financial and ethical standards.
• Prepare and attend meetings of the BCT Board of Directors (in a non-voting capacity), the Finance Risk and Audit Committee, the Scientific Advisory Committee and Annual Scientific Meeting committee.

Selection Criteria:

• Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as a CEO or equivalent.
• Business or financial management qualifications / extensive corporate management experience.
• Proven track record in leading organisational transformation.
• Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance for Australia, New Zealand and the Rest of the World for clinical research desirable.
• Background in healthcare, clinical research, or a related field would be advantageous.
