Beaumont People

About the Organisation

Our vision is simple: To eradicate obstetric fistula. Forever.

Founded by Australian Dr Catherine Hamlin, Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation (CHFF) is an independent charity established to raise funds and awareness for Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia to eradicate obstetric fistula. Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation is the leading funding partner and is responsible for raising funds across Australia, US and Canada and coordinating the global fundraising efforts.

For more than six decades, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia has focused on the treatment and prevention of one of the most horrific childbirth injuries – obstetric fistula. Today, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia is a healthcare network of over 550 Ethiopian staff servicing six hospitals, the Desta Mender rehabilitation centre, the Hamlin College of Midwives and more than 90 Hamlin-supported midwifery clinics. While the eradication of fistula in Ethiopia once seemed impossible, it is becoming a reality that will be achieved due to the growing movement of generous supporters who are determined to see this goal realised.

Philanthropy powers this important vision by providing much-needed support for Treatment, Prevention, Rehabilitation and Reintegration programs.
