The Volunteer Manager will focus on developing best practices through the recruitment, onboarding, engagement and ongoing development of their highly valued volunteers.

They will be responsible improving and ensuring that the volunteer journey is not only best practice, but exceptional! You will be integral to creating new strategies which align with the operational objectives and maintain compliance by frequently analysing relevant statistics, overseeing volunteer recruitment, onboarding and training initiatives, and conducting learning needs analysis for all volunteer roles.

Key responsibilities:

  • Closely collaborates with all relevant parties to manage, coordinate and enable an effective end-to-end volunteer recruitment processes
  • Work in collaboration to develop a volunteer recruitment and retention strategy and operational plan in alignment with strategic goals
  • Collaborate with lead volunteers to identify current volunteer role opportunities and develop volunteer role descriptions
  • Ensure compliance in maintained including Working With Children Checks and National Police Checks
  • Collaborate with the volunteer learning & development team including volunteer Trainers to coordinate the volunteer training schedule and support them with both online and onsite face-to-face training
  • Monitor, track and assess training progress and motivate volunteers as necessary to keep them engaged through to completion
  • Manage oversight of the membership database (iMIS) and eLearning system
  • Proactively manage statistics and other learning reports and utilise for improving growth and retention

The Person

Above everything, we are looking for a person who is passionate about volunteering and enhancing the volunteer journey.

We are looking for an enthusiastic leader with excellent customer service and communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop, coach and empower volunteers. You will have experience in and an understanding of a volunteer-based organisation.

Success factors of the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in volunteer management, human resources, learning and development or community development or 5 years equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, recruit and support volunteers/candidates
  • Demonstrated ability to use various IT applications including databases and learning management systems, iMiS preferred
  • Familiarity with the Australian national standards for volunteer involvement
  • Experience in volunteer or employee induction & development, NFP experience preferred
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
