About this Position
The Partnerships Acquisitions Manager is a business development role and is primarily responsible for; leading and driving the acquisition of new corporate partners for Beyond Blue, playing a critical role in achieving revenue targets, strengthening our focus on prevention and early intervention, and expanding our organisational reach and social impact.
The role
The key duties of the role include:
Pipeline management:
- Identify and Research: Identify potential new corporate partners, researching and analysing their alignment with Beyond Blue's values and objectives.
- Proposal Development: Develop and write tailored proposals to attract and engage prospective corporate partners.
- Pitch Management: Manage expressions of interest and deliver compelling pitches to secure new corporate partnerships.
- Negotiation: Lead the negotiation process for securing financial and/or in-kind contributions from corporate partners. Support and lead key internal stakeholder in negotiation efforts when necessary.
- Onboarding: Oversee all activities related to onboarding new partners, including facilitating initial discussions with partner stakeholders, conducting onboarding meetings, negotiating contracts, and coordinating with Beyond Blue's internal teams (e.g., Legal, Contracts, Fundraising, Marketing, Media, Brand).
- Partnership Handover: Facilitate the introduction and handover of new partners to the appointed Partnerships Manager for ongoing engagement.
- Moves Management: Manage all contact with corporate prospects on a centralised moves management database (CRM is Salesforce/bLink)
- Strategy Recommendations: Identify and recommend strategic approaches for engaging prospective corporate partners, aligning their needs with Beyond Blue's solutions.
Relationship management
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the corporate sector. Strong networking skills with a proactive approach to seeking out and engaging potential partners.
- Provide specialist advice to the Partnerships and Business Supporters team in identifying opportunities to grow and leverage existing partners, participating in key partnership meetings as required.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and inspiration by sharing insights and engaging with internal stakeholders to enhance partnership knowledge across the organisation, identify warm leads and tap into internal networks.
- Ensure activities meet the commitments made thought the Beyond Blue RAP and reflect the diversity of the Australian community, including groups at increased risk of depression, anxiety and suicide, and we seek opportunities for input, consultation, co-design where appropriate to inform our work.
Financial and contract management
- Ensure accurate records of all new corporate partners are inputted into CRM (blink) showing moves management principles for prospective partners and including contract dates, pledged revenue and other dates for key deliverables for confirmed partners.
- Ensure all partnerships are based on an agreed contractual agreement.
- Manage, monitor and report on budget for the corporate partnerships performance against targets. Implement mitigation strategies where required to effectively address any shortfalls.
- Ensure the acceptance and management of corporate partnerships is in line with the Donations and Corporate Partnerships Policy and any other Beyond Blue policies and procedures.
Leadership
- Thought Leadership: Remain abreast of new innovations and developments across partnerships and fundraising and ensure that Beyond Blue is able to adapt and respond in an agile manner to emerging corporate partnership opportunities.
- Develop and Deliver Work Plan: Create and execute the annual group work plan, ensuring adherence to agreed budgets and timelines.
- Budget Management: Develop, monitor, and report on partnership acquisition budgets. Identify barriers to financial targets and implement effective solutions.
- Service Quality: Ensure a customer-centric approach to all partnership negotiations and the delivery of high-quality, customer service to partners, Beyond Blue and the community.
- People Management: Foster a high-performing team culture through resource planning, staff work plan development, professional development, and annual performance reviews.
- Leadership and Support: Provide timely, relevant, and adaptable leadership and support to team members.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will hold:
- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Commerce, Business, Marketing, Sales), sales methodology training certifications (e.g. Millar Heiman, Sandler) or proven on-the-job work experience (e.g. Key Accounts Manager, Partnerships, Sponsorships).
- Sales and Business Development Experience: Proven track record in sales and business development, particularly in acquiring new corporate partners or clients. Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets and KPIs.
- Understanding of Mental Health Sector: Familiarity with mental health issues, especially in the context of corporate partnerships and employee well-being. Knowledge of Beyond Blue’s mission, services, and impact in the mental health space.
- Corporate Partnership Experience: Experience in building and maintaining relationships with corporate clients and partners. Ability to develop and present compelling partnership proposals tailored to corporate needs and values.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present ideas and solutions to diverse audiences. Proficiency in creating engaging and persuasive presentations and reports.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify and pursue strategic partnership opportunities aligned with Beyond Blue’s goals and values. Strong analytical skills to assess potential partners and tailor strategies to maximize partnership value.
- Networking and Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the corporate sector. Strong networking skills with a proactive approach to seeking out and engaging potential partners.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate and close deals that align with Beyond Blue’s objectives and deliver mutual benefits. Experience in navigating complex negotiation scenarios and achieving favourable outcomes.
- Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Resilience in the face of setbacks and persistence in pursuing new opportunities.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams. Experience in coordinating with various departments to align partnership goals with organisational strategies.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to leverage data and insights to drive decision-making and improve partnership strategies. Proficiency with Salesforce CRM software is highly regarded.
