Thank you for your interest in the position of Lead Initial Engagement and Support Worker at the Brisbane Rape and Incest Survivors Support Centre (BRISSC). Information about BRISSC, the Position Description and the Selection Criteria for this position are detailed below.

The Lead Engagement and Support Worker will be responsible for overseeing first engagement and access to BRISSC services by sexual assault survivors and community. The position is 30 hours a week (4 days).

The Worker will:

• Oversee initial telephone and email support systems
• Provide advocacy outreach (court and police support) for survivors
• Maintain referral procedures and waiting lists for initial appointments
• Direct and liaise with the phone team. Including shift rostering and organising/ facilitating quarterly phone workers’ meetings.
• Ongoing evaluation of BRISSC phone support and intake system
• Organise meetings with phone and initial teams, training and induction, as required.
• Respond to complaints, critical incidences and first contact with community
• Undertake initial appointment(s), as needed.
• Update BRISSC information to survivors: This will include updating agency/referral information and data systems; and managing other BRISSC resources.

The Brisbane Rape and Incest Survivors Support Centre (BRISSC) provides a feminist support service which is committed to working towards ending sexual violence and supporting women and their allies affected by violence. The BRISSC Collective manages the operation of three funded sexual assault support and prevention programs that are located at Woolloongabba, Richlands and the North side of Brisbane. The support services are available for women, trans and gender-diverse people aged 15 years and over whose lives are impacted by sexual violence.
