Bundanon is an art museum embedded in a 1,000 hectare landscape, in the Shoalhaven region of NSW. The organisation’s mission is to operate the Bundanon properties as a centre for creative arts and education, to support the development of arts practice across all disciplines and to enable public access to the arts and to the landscape. Bundanon’s vision is to promote creativity and learning based in a unique cultural and natural landscape.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Marketing and Communications will lead the planning, development and execution of Bundanon’s marketing and communications strategies, public relations activities and stakeholder communications, both external and internal. The Head of Marketing & Communications will direct efforts of the marketing and communications team (currently 3) and coordinate at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functional areas of Bundanon, tying all the marketing activity back to the organisational goals. This role defines and preserves Bundanon’s visual identity and tone of voice, establishing and nurturing constructive relationships with industry partners and media outlets. The role reports to the Chief Executive Office and part of leadership team.

WHAT YOU YOU'LL DO

Strategy Execution:

  • Contribute to the development of the Corporate Plan & Annual Report as part of the Leadership Team.
  • Plan, develop and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy including brand, communications, events, digital, design, media; with consideration to all business segments (Curatorial, Learning, Engagement, Natural Resources, Food and Beverage, Development)
  • Position Bundanon as a major national tourist destination.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop appropriate marketing and communication strategies that support all business functions specifically.
  • Stay informed of trends, legislative, regulatory and other factors likely to impact the sector.
  • Drive Marketing review processes to set priorities, monitor progress, remove obstacles, ensuring the sustainability of planned work.
  • Communicate the ongoing marketing initiatives so they are meaningful and inspiring.

Marketing and Communication Management:

  • Drive sales, visitation and enhance brand visibility and engagement through effective digital communication initiatives.
  • Oversee Public Relations (PR) and media strategies along with consultants, tracking and evaluating the reach and performance of the organisation and its specific programs.
  • Develop and execute specific multi-channel MarCom campaigns for all Bundanon’s programs and initiatives, including but not limited to art programs, fundraising, engagement programs, natural resources programs, food and beverage initiatives.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates to the marketing strategy based on performance metrics, market research, and evolving industry trends.
  • Oversee campaigns and monitor performance across all platforms.

Brand Management:

  • Elevate the organisation's brand presence and recognition across various channels and platforms
  • Develop and uphold brand guidelines and use brand performance metrics to leverage insights to refine strategies and enhance brand equity.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels.
  • Oversee the production, design, and layout of digital and print media.
  • Craft strategic press materials, and proactively managing media coverage for a positive public image.

Financial Management:

  • Manage the marketing budget for the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Identify Marketing opportunities to help drive the growth of the business.
  • Regularly analyse data and generate insights specific to the performance of key campaigns.
  • Participate in regular financial performance reviews and take action to ensure targets are achieved

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Produce and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and marketing metrics, seasonally and annually, specific to Bundanon.
  • Make data informed suggestions to inform decision-making.
  • Regularly develop and conduct post-campaign analysis reports and providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Deliver in-depth audience and consumer analysis reports through comprehensive research, and effectively communicating actionable insights.

Stakeholder and Project Management:

  • Manage relationships with key tourism stakeholders and developing long-term strategies for regional, domestic, and inbound tourism.
  • Form quality relationships with external stakeholders e.g. third-party agencies and customers; Define requirements and translate into assets.
  • Ensure all deliverables are executed in line with expectations & time frames.
  • Undertake proofing and approvals for accuracy and compliance.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, and strong experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated senior marketing and communications management experience in a diverse business environment.
  • Extensive experience in leading, developing, and executing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies across multiple business areas.
  • Proven leadership experience in leading a team, fostering collaboration, and driving performance.
  • Extensive experience in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and managing projects effectively.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with the arts, education and non-profit sectors.
  • Awareness of government communication policies and processes.
