About the role:

The Fundraising and Marketing Team is responsible for delivering growth in revenue received from the Australian public through the execution of an annual calendar of fundraising and promotional campaigns and activities. The team holds responsibility for both recruiting new supporters and for developing relationships with supporters that maximise their support to CARE. This is achieved through effective high volume direct and mass marketing approaches and through the strategic use of our content and brand in campaigns, digital fundraising, digital marketing, social media, partnerships and engagement both online and offline.

Specifically, the Head of Fundraising & Marketing oversees all marketing and general fundraising strategy and operations and is responsible for ensuring success of CARE’s public fundraising efforts by adopting a fully integrated approach across three streams of work:

  • Individual Giving & Direct Marketing Stream including cash giving, regular giving and CARE Gifts
  • Digital Fundraising & Marketing Stream for digital campaigns, social media & website, lead generation and on-line donor acquisition
  • Brand & Campaigns Stream for brand management, awareness raising, public relations, promotional campaigns and content development

In a complex and changing fundraising environment, this role is critical to foster a courageous approach that rewards innovation, new approaches and new products to grow public income.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive CARE’s fundraising and marketing strategy, to achieve high level targets and drive revenue growth. Develop and optimise key programs to engage the public and drive donor acquisition, retention, upgrading and reactivation
  • Lead a highly engaged, target driven and motivated team
  • Lead the successful development of outreach campaigns working across the full spectrum of marketing techniques, including direct marketing, public relations (PR) social media, content marketing, traffic building and conversion, email, search engine optimisation, events and brand activation
  • Develop an annual and multi year fundraising and marketing budgets
  • Foster and drive a courageous culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Oversee full integration of workstreams, ensuring all campaigns are planned and executed collaboratively to maximise results
  • Oversee the development and implementation of brand, communications and content strategy that ensures the impact of CARE’s work (and core value proposition) is communicated to key stakeholders and the general public in an effective and timely manner
  • Ensure all communications, marketing & fundraising content and collateral complies with the CI Safeguarding Policy and CARE Australia Child Safeguarding Policy

Ideally you will have:

  • Extensive experience at a senior level within Fundraising & Marketing or equivalent commercial sector generating multi-channel income programs
  • Extensive experience in a senior leadership position leading a multi-skilled cross functional team
  • Demonstrated strategic and analytical skills including experience in financial management, market research, data and consumer insight to dictate strategy
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering effective multi-channel acquisition, retention and development strategies across multiple fundraising and/or marketing campaigns including experience with digital marketing strategy
  • Proven experience managing complex budgets and implementing measurement practices to monitor performance, optimize efforts and achieve measurable income and performance goals
