ABOUT CAREERSEEKERS

CareerSeekers is a non-profit certified social enterprise that works with leading employers to create paid professional internship opportunities for people from refugee backgrounds. We help unlock the power of professional employment for refugees while helping employers to deliver meaningful diversity. We work with both experienced professionals eager to reignite their career in Australia (Mid-Career program) and university students seeking a pathway to graduate employment (University Student program).

We are a pragmatic and professional organisation that achieves outstanding results both for participants and employers. Over 90% of participants in our programs secure ongoing professional employment, working with around 80 of Australia’s most well known employers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role supports the University Student program and will, from time-to-time also assist with the Mid-Career program.

The Senior Advisor role is key to ensuring CareerSeekers delivers positive experiences and beneficial outcomes for our participants and employment partners.

Senior Advisors support a caseload of participants as they progress through the CareerSeekers program. They also work closely with managers of interns to make sure they are equipped to host their interns. Senior Advisors may also work with central human resources contacts for some smaller employment partner relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assessing the suitability of prospective participants
  • Coaching participants in the lead-up to internships, plus facilitating some group training
  • Developing profiles for participants, highlighting their skills and past experience, for consideration by employment partners
  • Briefing managers and other employer representatives on the CareerSeekers programs
  • Ensuring the internship program integrity is maintained, through setting objectives, reviewing intern progress reports, and maintaining regular contact with the intern and their manager

This role reports to the Program Director of the University Student program. You will work closely with a team of other Advisors and Seniors Advisors.
